The Green Building Council Brazil chose to disseminate on the market the LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design®) Rating System, adapted to the Brazilian culture. We are currently working on the interpretation and adaptation of this tool for the national market.
The LEED certification is very comprehensive and requires a great diversity of professionals. A high importance is placed on having a heterogeneous group with national coverage, including the participation of professionals from various regions of the country.
GBC Brazil appreciates the work of all of it's team members which have day by day helped to bring more professional experience. This has ensured work of a high technical quality and that really serves as a reference for the transformation of the construction industry in Brazil towards sustainability.
The GBC Brazil’s LEED® Committee is divided into five thematic subcommittees, which address five evaluating LEED rules: Materials and Resources (MR), Energy and Atmosphere (EA), Sustainable Area (SS), Internal Environmental Quality (EQ) and Rational Use of Water (WE).
These subcommittees will examine the criteria adopted by LEED and submit recommendations for the claims which they judge necessary.
