Green Building Council Brasil chose to disseminate on the market the LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design®) Rating System, adapted to the brazilian reality. We are currently working in the interpretation and adaptation of this tool for the national market.
Our work started on January 28th ,2008 at our meeting in the Amanco Auditorium which has today the active participation of 78 professionals of the highest technical capacity, among them teachers, designers, architects, engineers, biologists, physicians, consultants and LEED AP professionals, professional associations, companies of various branches of construction, in addition to several other developers with the most diverse professional experience and with different graduations, which donated their time to review the current version of LEED-NC ® 2.2, so that we can make a project proposal to U.S.Green Building Council for the regionalization of LEED for Brazil.
The LEED certification is very comprehensive and we need a great diversity of professionals, hence the importance of a heterogeneous group with national coverage, including the participation of professionals from various regions of the country.
As agreed with USGBC we have the goal to complete this work by the end of this year, thus ensuring that the new version of LEED, can be applied in Brazil.
Therefore GBC Brasil appreciates the work of all it´s team, which have day by day helped with all it´s professional experience, so that we can have a work of high technical quality and that really serves as a reference for the transformation of the construction industry in Brazil towards sustainability.
